Dr. Alkaissy is a board-certified physician in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, having recently completed his fellowship training at the University of Arizona – Phoenix in 2025. He brings a truly global perspective to medicine, having grown up in Iraq, completed medical school in Germany, and pursued advanced clinical training in the United States. Dr. Alkaissy earned his medical degree from the University of Cologne, where he was awarded a scholarship for outstanding academic achievement and helped co-found the Arab-German Medical Student Association, promoting cultural exchange and leadership among international medical students.
After graduating in 2013, he practiced in Germany before relocating to the U.S. to complete his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh, followed by subspecialty training in gastroenterology and hepatology in Arizona. His clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), colorectal cancer prevention, and obesity medicine. He is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s needs. Outside of medicine, Dr. Alkaissy enjoys biking, swimming, and exploring new cultures, reflecting his passion for diversity and lifelong learning.
